When Sex Goes Viral: Squirting, Edging & Digital Desire
When Sex Goes Viral: Squirting, Edging & Digital Desire
An evening with La CLIT and Andrea Sole Brovelli on squirting, edging, choking, and the sexual practices that appear everywhere, all at once.
They're everywhere suddenly. In reels, in memes, in podcasts, in porn, in conversations with friends, in "educational" videos and less educational ones. But what happens when a sexual practice goes viral?
Why that one, and not another? And what shifts when something moves from being one possibility among many to becoming a kind of collective online obsession?
We'll begin with squirting: one of the most talked-about, searched, narrated, and misunderstood practices online. We'll explore what it actually is, how it's described, what really happens in the body, and why so many myths, expectations, and confusion have accumulated around this experience.
From there, we'll expand to other highly visible practices online to ask ourselves: How do sex trends begin? Why do certain practices become viral, desirable, widely discussed, or suddenly "must-know"? And what happens when a practice shifts from one option among many to becoming almost a cultural phenomenon?
We'll talk about curiosity, arousal, erotic imagination, consent, pressure, stereotypes, and representation. We'll also examine the role social media, pornography, and digital culture play in making certain practices feel suddenly central, necessary, inevitable, or essential to know.
Together, we'll ask:
-
Why do certain sexual practices become viral online?
-
Is this liberating and positive—or can it become limiting?
-
What determines a practice's "fame"?
-
And what else about sex would we like to see circulating much more widely?
An open, curious space to discuss sex, internet, and desire, without judgment or moralizing.
See you there 🔥
