THE RIGHT TO PLEASURE: All Bodies, All Desires - Talk - April 23, 2026 at 6:30 PM
La CLIT is built on dismantling taboos, prejudices, and internalized stereotypes around relationships and sexuality. This evening, we're doing it alongside Iacopo Melio, activist for civil and human rights.
Together, we'll explore:
Accessibility to pleasure for all people—regardless of physical or mental disability. Because pleasure isn't a privilege reserved for bodies deemed "standard."
Privacy and autonomy in intimate spaces—and why this matters profoundly for people who depend on caregivers, whose bodies are not entirely their own to control.
Why we need to stop talking about disability and sexuality as separate categories. The distinction between "normal" and "disabled" sexuality doesn't actually make sense, and maintaining it does real harm.
Drawing from his book “Ma i disabili fanno sesso?” (Do Disabled People Have Sex? 100 straightforward answers to 100 difficult questions) Iacopo will help us understand sexuality and pleasure not as luxuries contingent on physical ability, but as fundamental human rights.

Iacopo Melio is a journalist, writer, activist, and regional councilor for Tuscany who refuses to shy away from difficult questions or the taboos surrounding disability.
He's transformed his personal experiences into concrete cultural action—dismantling barriers both architectural and mental. His book Do Disabled People Have Sex? challenges the stereotype that reduces disabled people to asexual beings. It asserts what should be obvious: the right to pleasure, intimacy, and affection is fundamental for everyone, without exception.
As a Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and regional councilor, Melio continues to dismantle the prejudices that surround bodies, disability, and desire—because accessibility to pleasure isn't a luxury.
It's a right.
